All Saints will be one of the starting points for The Big Idea Week in Wokingham. John Tuck, Chair Of Churches Together in Wokingham has written as follows about it:
“On Sunday 20th August the Bishop of Reading is coming to Elms Field in Wokingham to officiate at the Commissioning Service for the launch of The Big Idea.
With over 230 volunteers signed up for a week of community action and events this will be a great opportunity for Wokingham’s Churches to come together in unity and show the love of Our Lord to the town. Hopefully you will be able to join us in launching The Big Idea.
Five town centre churches are holding services at 4.00pm for approximately half an hour or less to which Christians from other Churches are welcome. These are: St. Paul’s, Wokingham Baptist, All Saint’s, Corpus Christi and The Methodist Church. Each of these churches will then process with banners, and flags flying, accompanied by drums and music if possible to meet with the other processions at Elms Field, in time for the service led by Bishop Stephen at 4.45pm. The service will last for approx. 1 to 1 quarter hrs
If you have members who can not manage the procession they may wish to go straight to Elms Field. Please note: No seating will be provided. Please BRING YOUR OWN or a rug to sit on.”
The Big Idea Week is a week of community action projects and community events in Wokingham organised by Wokingham churches to demonstrate the love of God for the town.
