Saving England’s woodlands

I am a supporter of Woodland Trust: the charity dedicated to saving the woodland heritage of Britain. English mixed woods are my favourite terrain. I have happy childhood memories of roaming freely with my gang of mates in woodlands near my home in West Yorkshire. Today’s mail brings exciting news from Woodland Trust of an appeal to purchase 649 acres of woodland in the High Weald in Sussex, just a few miles from the historic site of the Battle of Hastings 1066. It is an area rich in native English flora and fauna including rare species. See video on the Trust’s site at http://www.woodland-trust.org.uk/appeals.
